Q Who are Lepton Accounting? The business was formerly known as TaxAssist Direct and has been trading since 1999. The business is specifically set up to
provide accountancy, taxation and advice to small businesses. Like our clients we are also a small business and fully appreciate the highs and lows this brings. We changed the name to bring more
meaning to the services we were providing from the original location of our business.
Q How do you differ from high street accountants? Cost mainly, because we operate from a home base our costs are kept to a minimum which are then passed
onto clients through reduced fees. As high street accountants have to pay substantial amounts for rent, rates and overheads we can be more competitive. In addition we also endeavour to give a more
personal and prompt service.
Q What can you offer me apart from lower fees? Flexibility. we can visit you at your premises when it is convenient to you, whether it be daytime, evenings
or weekends at no additional cost. (Therefore we will not get in the way of you earning your living!) Our services are designed to meet each client’s individual requirements.
Q What can I gain from using your services? A more personal service - many of our clients have changed because they find we are more contactable. They have
in the past had a poor response from their accountant and found it difficult to contact them.
Q Will you tell me how much your charges are going to be in advance so I do not have any nasty surprises? Yes.
Q Do I need to produce accounts as I have only a small business? All businesses need to complete a self-assessment tax return. In order to do so accurately,
and demonstrate to the Inland Revenue how you arrived at your calculations, you will need to produce accounts for the period in question.
Q Can I complete my own accounts and tax returns? Of course you can produce your own accounts and complete your own tax return but do you have the knowledge
to get it right and claim all possible expenses? - you will invite problems with the Inland Revenue if you get it wrong and remember there are penalties for negligence.
Q What about auditing? From 1st January 2016 this will only apply if 2 or more of the following statements are correct. An annual turnover greater than
£10.2 million. Assets worth more than £5.1 million. 50 or more employees.
Q How do I know you will do a good job? Can you cope with something really complicated? Not only are we fully trained and qualified to produce accounts we
are also subject to the quality processes and procedures which are laid down by our trading licence. These quality standards ensure that all clients, however small or large, get a consistently good
service within the ethos of ‘right first time’. In addition we also have to abide by a professional code of ethics and standards for all accounts and taxation work. It couldn’t be easier. All we
require is your signature on an agreement and the necessary authority documents. We will do the rest. We will even produce a letter to your old accountants informing them of your decision.
Q Do I need to change to you straightaway as the year end for my next accounts is quite a long way off? Yes - even if you have just had your annual
accounts produced, the sooner you decide to change the better. We will ensure a smooth changeover and put in place a workable timetable for all future work
Q I have only recently started in business - what services other than production of accounts and completion of tax returns can you offer me? We offer
the full range of services you would expect. Bookkeeping, Value Added Tax Returns and a Payroll Service. We can also produce financial forecasting, budgeting and periodic management
accounts,etc.
Q Can I pay you by monthly installments to avoid receiving a large bill annually?
Yes - We recommend this form of payment to many of our clients. It aids your cash flow.
